    C2 hardtop restoration

I'm not sure whether any forum rules discourage a recommendation for services, but I have a hardtop which I would like restored
for my 1965 convertible. It is not original to the car, but is the correct vintage, in general. I do not know year of manufacture of top.

Is the only way to confirm the hardtop year of manufacture via the glass (assuming the glass is original)?

next question is : who should I employ to complete a full restoration?

PM is fine if need be. Thanks in advance.

John, there are two companies that I am aware of:

    1) http://www.autoentec.com/
    2) https://www.thehardtopshop.com/

If you have the time you can do it yourself but it is a long process.

    Good Luck

      John,
The rear window has a date drivers side lower corner. Post what you find here and I'm sure someone can tell you the date of the top.

Hmm I see no date. I would have to conclude that current glass is not original.

Not necessarily so. The date code may be hidden by the weatherstrip.

John, as you mentioned, the Plexiglas date code is probably the best indicator of the year of manufacture, but there are a few other indicators to look for - like upper and lower Plexiglas reinforcements, side notches and headliners. The format of the Plexiglas date code also changed over the years. The attached is a compilation of notes I put together when looking for a hardtop. It might be of some help.

I used Glassworks (The Hardtop Shop) in the 2016-2017 time frame. The quality of their work was excellent but the wait time was 15 months at that time.

            Good luck!
