Replacement Battery

I ordered a period correct/date coded reproduction battery for my 66 roadster from one of the major corvette catalog outlets on October 2nd and have still not received it - every time I check the status its always going to be shipped in two weeks. According to catalog sales rep there is no other other contract manufacturer for that reproduction battery. In my three NCRS Top Flight judging events the car has always recieved the standard 7 point deduction (even with the period correct reproduction battery). My question is if I install a modern replacement batery is the judging penalty any greater than the standard 7 points? Thanks

If you put in a modern Delco brand replacement (size 24), it will get a standard 12 point deduction.

Yes, that one will work. Any Group 24 Delco (not 24R) with two top posts will work. There are different prices based on different internals, warranties, CCA, etc. You could also contact your local Delco dealer to see what they have in stock. Here is an example:

That is always what I have gotten too, even with the more expensive real tar tops, they just will not allow reproduction batteries.

$84 at Menards with a 3 year warranty. Installed mine last week.
