    Tonawanda 427-435 JE Stamp Pad

What was the average amount of 427 L71 JE Stamp Pads were Stamped per Day at the Tonawanda Plant and how many workers at the plant were Stamping Engine Pads throughout a shift per day.

They didn't build 427 JE engines daily. Engines were built in batches based on orders from assembly plants and the parts divisions.

That’s normal as long as the pieces are proceeding the assembly build stamping.

For The Tonawanda Mark IV motors the assembly stamp was applied before the head(s) were installed, but I would expect the engine build was in most cases completed on the same day.

Wonder if the VIN. # also was stamped while the Heads were off on the engines .

No, the heads were on when St Louis installed the engine in the chassis.

So the engine get drop in the Chassis with no Vin. # in St Louis then a worker on the assembly line Stamps the Vin# on the engine before the body is drop.

Not quite. The VIN was stamped on the engine and transmission on the line where they (engine and transmission) were mated. After that they were installed in the chassis.

John Hinckley worked at the St Louis Assembly plant. He wrote describing the assembly process of the Corvette. Do a search for this information.

John H. said this in his presentation:

                        Engine Dress Line
                        Hang engine and transmission
                        Stamp VIN
                        Install Accessories
                        Engine oil and transmission fluid
                        Send to chassis line

I guess at the Tonawanda engine plant there was alot of Stamping Pad being whacked and I,am very surprise after stamping so many engine per day my guess is about 300, so how could it be possible that the stamping numbers meaning "Engine Stamp pad" at that particular day "claim" that all stamping pad should look the same in that certain day Claiming as of a fingerprint mark, the gangland holder after taken a beating like that all day by different day and night workers wouldn't you think the gangland fonts numbers & letters would wear or chip or been replaced and the spacing of the numbers changes and the depth of the sledge hammer hit's through out the day changes the look's of each and every stamp Pad done after so many whacks that day .
