    Frame stencil

I was just informed at the Lone star regionals that there is a new concencus that the frame stencil was placed on the drivers side of the frame. Mine was on the passengers side and I re-stenciled it there.

First time I've ever heard that. But, I heard a lot of things for the first time at this past Lone Star Regionals.

Dale, most stencils were applied on the drivers side, however if you have evidence yours was placed on the wrong side at the factory, the point deduction (if at all) should not be a factor.

You know, a picture is worth a thousand words and I have two pictures that end my questioning on where the stenciling was placed on the 68 corvette frame. The passenger side, case closed and I'm not moving mine.

I would not change it either. Unfortunately too many times History has been rewritten and has become fact. Yours was applied on the passenger side and it should remain on the passenger side even though its not TFP. Good for you!

I don't really mind as the car Top Flighted anyway. I would just like to know how it really was. I have seen extremely convincing evidence of production placement on the passengers side (pictures). If these pictures are wrong how many wrongs does it take to make it right?

I've not heard that one, nor do I recall ever seeing one on the driver's side. Ever.

So happy I did not change mine to drivers side, post judging. Pat also if you have inputs to JM, I brought up the vacuum plumbing for a 68 BB with A/C. Look up my posts to Gary Bosselman, he knows about it, Oct 28 (

I just looked through the 68-69 JG, the 70-72 5th Ed and the upcoming 70-72 6th Edition. None of them say which side the stencil is on - that will be corrected.
Correction - the 68-69 states the RIGHT rail, as does the 70-72. I just had to read them slower.

This same practice continued for 73 and 74. Frame stencil located on RIGHT SIDE rail as
Patrick noted above for 68-72. Only difference is the stencil color is white in 73 and changed to yellow in 74.

So, which specific years was he stencil on he driver's side? None of the C2 years, I believe.

                            Patrick,

So, I take it the "consensus" at the Lone star regionals that the frame stencil was placed on the drivers side of the frame is just some judges going rogue.

I don't know the context or who was judging, so I can't comment on what did - or did not get said or get heard. They're not always the same. That happens to me all the time - what I say and a patient hears don't always match.

Yet, in my judging I have not seen one or heard of one on the left (driver's) side. But, as Terry McM says, I haven't seen them all.
