Hi Gents, should the serial # on the fuelie unit ID tag and the VIN on the engine pad match in 1962?

No. There may be a loose correlation, that is lower FI serial #'s would be on earlier cars, etc.

Just a rough estimate I might expect to see something in the area of unit #1646 on VIN #4900.

A little info may help. If the site would let me add a graph of vin vs serial no. you could see the relationship. I have posted it before so try looking. Oh here it is!

Daniel, If your ID tag is original I would not touch it. The numbers are close enough. John

P.S. If any of you see a 1962 fuel injection with a tag reading 7017370 instead of 7017360 don't panic. Same unit. The 7370 units were sold over the counter in the old days as a service replacement for all C1's.
