    1963 Seat Installation

    Hello Everyone,

Could anyone possibly have a picture of the seat installation and the hardware used to install the seats in a 1963 Coupe?
What bolts are used and their markings?

    Thanks, Kenneth Hatcher

    Kenneth,

Type "1963 seats" into the search box and lots of good threads with the information you need will be displayed.

      Thanks Harry,

I put in the Search "1963 Seat Installation" and nothing came up that for the seat installation. Other stuff came up but nothing for seat installation. I put in "1963 seats" and saw your post. I'm interested in the other hardware, brackets inside and plates underneath, which your post goes into. Thanks this helps

        Kenneth,

Here is a picture of an original 63 with the correct cutout for the carpet. Hope this helps.

Sorry but don't have a picture of the bolts.

The seats when installed are under the carpet. The fronts after the cut as depicted in Joe's picture flap over the bolts to hide them. The rear hardware is just not visible when slid into the brackets. The 63 seat frames are the only ones that are adjustable for height and sitting angle. Consider that before you tighten everything up. The black pinch welt is installed last on the front legs.

Bolts are pictured. Look for the serrated washers and the point.

The 8 long pointed tip bolts attach the 4 rear mounting U brackets
The 4 short bolts attach the forward 4 tabs

Ken to add a little to Harrys post, The bolts are 5/16ths indexed heads with washers build into bolts, pointed ends E seems to be the popular head mark but like others could be used.

I think I have the wrong seats in my 63, I think their for a 64, because nothing is matching up with what you've said. Instead of legs I have one long leg that stretches from front to back. I'll try to load some pictures. Looks as though I'll be looking for some seats for a 1963.

                  Thanks, Kenneth

                      Thanks Richard,

The pictures really help. I didn't know the bolts were different. I'll be looking for these.

                        Thanks Edward,

                        Great!
I told my wife I hate to go in the garage because everytime I do I find something wrong that needs to be replaced.

Do you know where I can get a bolt set like the ones in your post?

A fella named Richard Pasqualone has everything you can imagine.

Inline tube is selling fasteners for reasonable.
Might find the correct head markings but is is likely they will be missing the 63 serrated washer.
That silly washer separates and distinguishes the 63 stuff from other years.
