65 Black fuel coupe Stolen w/ follow-up info

A 65 black fuel coupe was stolen from a hotel Saturday morning in Indianapolis during the Bloomington Gold event.
Keep your eyes and ears open for fresh 65 parts. I believe the Indiana state police is handling the investigation.

I may be getting all the info on the fuel injection and pics of under the hood. The serial number of the car may be stamped on the passenger side of the plenum. RR corner. Also asked for the serial number of the fuel injection.
With the owners permission I will pass this info onto you here. If this is OK to do this on this site. Let me know please. Thanks, John

Hope it was not the top flight car we had at Michigan "Motor City Regional" ...
Hope it was not anybody's top flight car.
      Sorry to hear about this.

        John,

I agree. Post any information that you can get on this stolen car. I would also like to post it on our Facebook page.

Tom, no it wasn't my car, it was a black FI coupe with, I think, a black interior. By the way, just got my judging sheets from the regional today. Thanks for the nice note and comments.

This car that was stolen belongs to Gary Pasch in Rockford Il. He has owned the car 47-years. VIN number.194375S103461
Its a real black, fuel injected coupe.

              Re: 65 Black fuel coupe

Gary Pasch called me a little while ago. He's an old customer of mine. I feel very bad for him. The '65 is not registered with Jim Gesner. Serial number is 03461. Black on Back fuel coupe. What makes the fuel injection stand out in the crowd is the serial number.
ID tag reads: 7017380 Serial number 1005!!! The '65 is a December 2nd, 1964 car.
Now I will be watching here and wait as Gary is going to be making posts.
Someday the thief who has the FI unit is going to need an ID tag for it as 1005 is typically a Rochester Products Engineering center FI unit.
Then you know who they will call.
It's the 5th 7017380 unit made. But it was on the car when he bought the car in 1971. He's owned the car for 47 years. That's a long time.
He thinks there is a slight stamping of the serial number of his car on the usual place. Right rear corner were the distributor vacuum advance fitting and hose are. I pray that Gary gets his car back friends. Lets do what we can to help him. John

Its not likely that whoever stole it will part it out, its too valuable the way it is, (though maybe the thief is not a Corvette guy). A car like that is probably headed overseas in one piece, to fill a order... very sad.

The people keeping track of fuelies need to be watching out for a new one to appear. Trim tag could also show up for sale by itself if there's a color or vin/trim change to the car.

Unless caught in the act of stealing the car, everything else is nothing more than possession of stolen property which is a misdemeanor and a very low priority to law enforcement. The only recourse is to have good insurance to protect you for your loss.
