On Saturday Steve Magnante noted when the 1st FI C1 was sold it bore the NCRS approval placard in the windshield indicating that someone from NCRS had verified the quality of the vehicle on site. Can someone identify what NCRS is attesting to regarding the Barrett Jackson presented Corvettes? As I recall the car in question sold for about $70,000.

All the NCRS card means is that NCRS has certified (for a fee) that it has won the award the owner claims, NOT that the quality of the vehicle has been verified. Without having the award confirmation, no NCRS claim can be made. Remember the disclaimer on the back of every NCRS Flight Award, it is for that car as the car was presented that day in the opinion of volunteer judges. Don H.

When you see the NCRS Barrett-Jackson event decal on the windshield passenger side lower corner, it simply means NCRS has issued an award confirmation document for that specific car showing the award level achieved, the date and location of the meet. That document is laminated and placed in the vehicle when the decal is applied, an identical copy is placed in the property room. NCRS does not certify or inspect any car for Barrett-Jackson they simply confirm a car has been judged and the level of award it achieved at the time of judging. That is a two way street sometimes it discloses things contrary to the owner claims and when that happens the description is changed by Barrett-Jackson to confirm what NCRS shows, other times it confirms thing the current owner might not know and at that time the description is changed. It can bring a description up-down or sideways depending on the honesty/knowledge of the seller.

Experience says you cannot control the slant the media might verbalize, we have tried and for the most pat they do a good job. Steve Magnante is a good friend of mine I would be shocked if that was what he intended to say, I will discuss it with him.

Sometimes valuable parts can change when a vehicle changes owners several times. At least my experience with MoPars and Ford's. Maybe Vetts are imune !

Steve Magnante is the only auction announcer that actually says anything of worthwhile substance. Others pointing out the obvious gets boring real fast. Steve has substance and real facts to keep one’s attention. When Steve is not presenting I generally turn off the sound.

I would be nice if the network could shut off the auctioneer when the anouncers are speaking.

I'd prefer they mute the TV hosts while the auctioneer is speaking. Maybe I would learn something about the car. Miles? Condition? Numbers? History? Paperwork? The announcers say nothing about the important stuff, and fill the air with stupid stuff... "It has a Quadrajet! That's a GM carburetor!", "Look how the exhaust tip goes through the bumper!", "My favorite color today!"

Was this car a Cascade Green with beige interior car? Serial # E57S100010 (the 10th 57 made)?

Not for nothing but listen to the information Steve Magnante adds when talking about the cars on the block. He does have a vast knowledge when presenting detailed points of interest. Not like the “stupid stuff” as you made note to.

Watch Steve M. with his note pad. He prepares for each car and writes the notes before-hand. At least for the ones he knows he is to comment on.

And he still doesn't know crap about Corvettes.

For the sake of clarification I went back an viewed one of the Corvettes auctioned with a reference to NCRS verification. The particular car in question was a 1967 Big Block with a non-OEM trim tag and non-OEM VIN tag that had been "verified". Steve M was describing the 400 hp Vette when Mike Brewer stated "The all important NCRS sticker again that shows it has been checked and verified by someone of your stature Steve" This was mentioned several times throughout the auction, in particular regarding two FI C1's. Apparently the verification was intended to reference previous NCRS judging and not the current presentation.

I think he's the guy that explained the meaning of spreadbores and 12 bolts. Interesting primer for newcomers to the hobby I guess. But still wish they would describe the car instead.
