1962 Clock

So I get the clock repaired and try to put it back in. I get it past the notches and start to turn it clockwise and it goes in and past the notch and starts to turn but only goes about 3/4 of the way. Have had it in and out several times always ends up at twelve 0 two instead of straight up 12. What is this old sometimes forgetful mind missing?

Terry,
Possibly the convoluted spring is in wrong?
I can't imagine anything else.

I'll try that but I don't see that there is a right side up on that type of spring! Just find it hard to believe I am the only one to have this trouble. Then again maybe not so hard to believe with the luck I have been having, lol!

They can be a royal PITA - I had to force this one out of a 61 dash....you can see the spring and how it's situated in the photo..
Maybe a bit of silicone grease -- like is used on "O" rings would help...around the spring and other contact points..
