...reminds me of a famous comment made in the sixties by the late Senator Everett Dirkson, a fiscal conservative from Illinois when he was Senate Majority Leader - "A billion here, a billion there... pretty soon you're taking real money".

A point off here a couple of points there... pretty soon it's the difference between Top Flight and Second Flight.

Lots of little things can add up to a big thing.

This is just a ridicules comparison. A car can lose 280 points before it drops out of top flight. This is with bonus points. To be pushing back on one or two points here and there is just out of reality. Fix the big things and MAKE SURE EVERYTHING ON THE CAR WORKS PROPERLY.

ANY ONE LINE FAIL IN OPERATIONS IS A GREATER LOSS THAT CAN AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED TO ATAIN TOP FLIGHT. Too many times an owner complains of a point taken when they lost a couple lines in operations. The logic is insane.

If a part is a replacement, non GM original part, without correct markings, finish, different configuration, expect it to be deducted for. If you know what to look for, yes the replacement canister is totally wrong.

Not looking to pirate the thread, but is anyone out there replating the vacuum cans. Mine is working fine, it's just ugly.

          Hi Harry,

Go up to Michael's craft store and get a small tube of silver rub and buff. Place a small amount on a rag and rub it on the control, it will look like it's cad plated.

Please don't tell anyone about this little trick. :-)

              Harry, Tim,

You can get them replated, and they work fine. Here's mine for a 67 327/300 which I did myself with a Caswell kit:
