The amp gauge on a mid year will work without a ground.
I can't think of anything else.

My gas gauge has two grounds, the brown wire and the black/white wire.....and it doesn't work.

Really, two grounds? My guess would be your problem is probably one or both of those grounds are bad!!! Don't ask me how I know.

Right Roy, and when a restorer doesn't know how to wire a tanker's unique sending unit, this is what you get. But, I am experienced at rewiring these mistakes, and will soon have it working, I hope.........

I had a problem with my fan switch for my 66 w/air. After two months of trouble shooting, it was a ground that i forgot to reconnect.

I finally figured out why my gas gauge was deflecting along with the battery gauge (and not working) with the brake lights on and turn signals blinking. The so-called "restorer" connected the ground wire from the sending unit to the common ground from the tail lights, instead of separately ground it. You wonder what people are thinking (or not thinking) when they restore a car......

I had to get some of that for 3 cars-after I got replacement wires. It works just like the original smoke. Good stuff and highly recommended!

That smoke does not work in USA wiring as it flows backwards negative to positive.

The Lucas smoke works fine on both sides of the Atlantic as it facilitates the electron flow from negative to positive. Problems arise when the smoke leaks out and the electrons get stuck. Lack of ground or earth is the answer to every electrical difficulty and is usually fixed with a BFH.
