1968 Glove box lid - late design plate to shut off light

Finishing up a June 1968 rear storage compartment lid assembly. Page 50 of the TIMJG describes a kidney shaped plate GM 3937912 that was added to the masonite door to insure contact with the light switch plunger. On page 49 there is a photo, but the part shown on the compartment doors is so small that I cannot see what it looks like. Google searches have been unfruitful.

Can someone with one share a picture with me or point me in the direction so that I can understand what it looks like and attempt to find or manufacturer one?

    Thanks!

Here is a picture of mine. I hope the picture is better than the one in the JM. I don't know where you can find them. They should be rather easy to reproduce.

That is a huge help Dale. From looking at the size of the lock retainer beside it, would you approximate that the plate is 1.5 inches x .75 inches. Plus or minus of course. Im sure I will be fabricating one unless someone happen to have one sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

Thanks for posting the picture. Care if I use it for the manual?

Gary Bosselman - Speaking of the 6th edition of the 68-9. Has someone already told you that code 992 Corvette Bronze was omitted from page 68 under Exterior Paint codes for 1968 Corvettes?

            Just noticed that today,

I'll look around for one and see if I have any good pictures. The car is in the barn right now but I'll look in the AM.

GM #3937912 is the RETAINER which retains the lock to the lid. It is not the plate the plate seen on the passenger side of Dale's lid.

My 1969 does not have this plate and never had it so it must be unique to 1968. I can't find any part number for it.

Joe - That is great information. I got that number out of page 50 of the 5th edition, but when I googled it, only found a link the the lock retainers on Zips site. I figured they had their information wrong. Does anyone have a GM part number that may lead me to do a better online search for the part?

Nope. But it's been added now.
                      Thank you, thank you....

Not to muddle the picture but it is referenced but not shown in Dobbins Fact book, page 60.

Dale - And does that picture appear that the underside of the door is painted black, not natural pressboard? Would this indicate very very late 1968 or 1969?

Brad I am the original owner of a FEB built 1968 and my glove box lid is all plastic. It developed a slight "bow" and would not turn off the light. I just removed the bulb from the light connection over 40 years ago. No battery rundown when sitting for months.
