Last I heard Antique Auto Battery was not fulfilling orders. And Restoration Battery is out of business. There are issues making the cases (coming from Mexico).

If you absolutely positively need one right now your best option is a topper. Ecklers as well as others have them. You place the topper over a generic black battery you can buy at Advance or Auto Zone. It just looks better than a modern battery; you'll still get judging deductions.

            Bill,

Does adding a topper reduce the point deduction at all?

topper just makes modern battery look 'better" and in fact in most cases probably warrants points deduction.......just my opinion

Ryan, Just buy a Delco battery and leave the decals on. You will receive 50% credit for it. To make up for the points loss make sure you have can pass the ops check. John

                        Re: battery source

I have been calling Antique Auto Battery in Youngstown Ohio. Also filled out a contact form on their website. No response.
Delco Battery. Not easy to find around my area.
Luckily my rebuilt original tar top still holds 12.47 volts. Going back in the car although it's been abused and mutilated at the NCRS meets with guys coming over putting their finger nails deep into the tar. You know who you are. hahaha.

Think it is time for the NCRS along with the National Judging Chairman to revise the deductions on batteries? The battery problem is not going to get any better!
                          Opinions please!

                            Joe,

I agree completely. I would also offer that we need to take a look at deductions for reproduction tires. I feel as long as they are of the brand, size, wall design and color etc as original they should receive full credit. We encourage driving our cars and give points during judging for those who drove their cars to the meet. We should not encourage anyone to put 50 - 60 year old tires on their car just to acquire a few points. It just isn't safe.

                            Rick

Rick - tires if they are as you describe receive 3 point deduction which is not out of line
