I ONLY use the knife switch now - after several failures with the knob type - not cheap ones either.

Over time I found it took more and more cranking on the knob to get a good connection until finally it was no longer a sure thing at all...

Guess I don't know what the "Duh!" is about because those advertising their products are touting "can also be completely removed to deter theft". Not create a theft proof condition, just discourage. I don't recollect ever having completely removed the knob on mine. As I said before, if someone is determined enough, they will most likely find a way to steal things.

        Steve,
The knob itself is removable "as advertised".

I've bought cheap knob disconnect switches at car shows and they don't cut off all the time. Now I just pay for the ones from Restoration Battery, they work fine.

If you want your car to look like a 1920's electrical plant buy a knife type switch. For something more modern try: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/h...srese2-_-hella
The red lever is removable just like your green knob and there are many mounting locations available so the switch will not be visible to a casual observer:
