FWIW if P48 is an original option there are signs of that. Their credibility will be greater if those parts remain the originals and were not replaced during restoration. So it is detectable particularly when there is communication between judging teams.

Respectfully I disagree that there should be an allowance made in judging for the incompetent. The car is being assessed not the owner or some occasional non owner driver.

I believe after all the research on the wheels the answer is no. If you own a Z06 you should probably consider this book.

Dan: If that is the case then there should be "Total Deductions" for Battery/Fan Belts/Tires/Filters and any serviceable part that
is on the car but is NOT> "THE" ORIGINAL THAT CAME WITH IT. No allowance made in judging as you stated. JMHO Thanks

You also need to be mindful of whether the car came with white wall or black wall tires.

Re: Adding Power Steering to a C2 Top Flight Car

L Larry: Replacement, reproduction, service parts and so on do receive deductions when they are sufficiently discernible from the appearance of original parts. Cars are judged on appearing as original. Not whether they are in ever aspect absolutely original i.e. parts, engines, paint etc. Simply if it looks like a duck it is viewed as a duck. A common fallacy is that a Flight Award certifies something is original. They do not. These awards indicate a car appeared as an original car would on a specified day.

I suggest you read the Judging Reference Manual. The Judging Retreat in Texas would be of benefit as well.

I like your suggestion to read the reference manual as there appears to be a number here who could learn a lot.

Those items you mention are subject to some type deduction as everyone of them has differences from originals. The amount of deduct would depend on the closeness to original configuration.

Yesterday old JD did a fuel injection seminar for the Pittsburgh Tri-State chapter. I was asked how many '57's had fuel injections. My answer was all of them.

Because Dan Lynch is adding power steering which is a factory option was it born with power steering who knows and wants to know if it's going costing him points , my question is I come in with my 63 Z06 with knock off wheels was it born with knock off who knows it's a factory option but i get deducted big time for wrong wheels why's that .

                              Danny,

You are likely to get more responses to your question if you start a separate thread. Some folks will see power steering, think “Chassis” and put thread on ignore. Your wheel question is one dealing with “Exterior”. More likely to get exterior judges making comment.
