This pic was taken in the summer of 1990 on the coast of NC at my parent's house. Brand new 1990 ZR-1 in Polo Green and 1967 L71 in Marina Blue. Both cars purchased at Capitol Chevrolet in Nashville. I purchased the ZR-1 new and, 23 years earlier, Porter Wagoner purchased the L71. He specified aluminum wheels and tele column...

No ears on it so this was a GM replacement. In the 70's I ordered new for my '57 and no ears on the center and a friend ordered for his 66 and no ears, just the center section as a result of laws. We both sent ours back.

            Another...(note the trailer hitch!)

Day 2 - LS6 on steroids (engine came out when new, and blueprinted to LS7 Specs, except for the intake). It was fierce!
            Wayne-

Awesome! Do you still have the car or know its status?

            Nit picky judging question-
shouldn't the alternator be clocked at 9?

Hi Mark...Can't remember how the alternator got that way. But yes, the clocking is wrong. Way back then we didn't care as long as it worked and went fast .

I was in the RCMP at the time. I sold it because I was getting married. Anyway, short story is, the day it left town, a detachment roughly 100 miles away called me. They laughed and told me they just scraped my old Corvette off a bridge abutment. New owner ran out of talent but survived. Much later, maybe 20 years ago, someone called and said "Hey, I have your old Corvette". But it had a small block in it. I think he meant to say, "Hey, I have the vin and what's left of your old Corvette."

FYI, I always regretted selling it. So now I'm building a very loose, different colour clone....

              Thanks for asking!

                Wayne--

I was absolutely sick to read that your beautiful, blue, big block was wrecked--especially, the day you parted with it. While I have had quite a few Corvettes, I was never fortunate enough to have a big block. The closest I came, was finding a 1967 Coupe that "rolled out of the factory" with a 390 horsepower 427 (per the tank sticker); however, by the time I got it, the 427 had been replaced with a "crappy," ill running 327. Anyway, I am glad to learn that you are building a somewhat similar clone to enjoy!! Best of luck with the new car; and perhaps you will post a picture or two of it, (with description), when it is finished!!

                Best Regards,
                Rob

                  Wayne,

                  Cool car and nice garage.
