More progress...painted the cove white over the weekend.
Next is undercoating and blackout, then color sanding and buffing...enjoy!

Re: Progress on my C1 (59) - Meeting a major milestone...

Last weekend, I sprayed the undercoating in the wheel wells. Today, the weather held out long enough to paint blackout in the wheel wells and engine compartment. I still need to paint blackout on the underside of my hood. Hopefully, I can complete that next weekend if the weather is decent.

Yesterday was a yucky day - cloudy and very humid. Everything was so wet. This morning started out that way, then the sun came out and dried a lot of the moisture up while we taped and masked everything off so we could paint the wheel wells and engine compartment. The weather started getting cloudy again but was still warm and we were able to shoot the blackout before the moisture rolled back in...luckily.

I think the sheen of the blackout came out perfect after mixing flattener in gloss black lacquer. Not too shiny, not too dull, like an eggshell finish.

Hope you enjoy my pictures as much as I do sharing them with you...

Excellent work Jill. You can be justifiably proud of what you're accomplishing.

Great Job Jill. I'm having the same fun of the restoration myself with my 67. Keep on grinding away at it

What's your rotisserie? Seeing your progress has made me think about
restarting my 52 year project again.... was going to make the '62 into
a gasser for Southeast Gassers until I found out that they run $50K
pro-built engines. Kinda like a civil war reenactment with M16s and M60s.
So... it's back to NCRS again.

It's basically built from square tubing and we can shorten or lengthen to fit multiple projects as necessary. We have square tubing inside of square tubing for strength, rigidity and length adjustment. The ends are also built of much thicker square tubing with large round stock sticking out like a "T" on each end with slightly smaller round stock so we can rotate the body while on the rotisserie. Once rotated (or even level), the rotisserie is held into place with pre-drilled holes around the round stock so we can insert a "keeper" like a punch, screwdriver, or similar large object to hold the rotisserie in place. We also have a threaded set screw "T" that we can rotate clockwise to, more or less, clamp down and hold into place in conjunction with the screwdriver in place. Both ends are set up in the same fashion for added strength and stability. Also, you'll see in a couple of the pictures that the body is bolted to the rotisserie where the body would mount to the frame. Additionally, the square pieces of flat metal you see in the picture also move up and down the square tubing railing so the "mounting sources" are also adjustable. I tried to include as many pictures as possible to get the best idea of what I've described here.

Any other questions, please let me know.

Re: Progress on my C1 (59) - Meeting a major milestone...

Attached are more pictures since I sprayed the blackout in January...I have come a long way and getting more excited about finishing my project every day. It won't be long before I get the majority of the items attached to the body before placing it on frame. Then I can finally drive my car (this will be the first time since I bought my project over 5 years ago)...ahhhh!

                  Enjoy!

Absolutely stunning work Jill! You're an inspiration to us all. Here's a shot of what seems to be my forever project '66. We're celebrating our 30th anniversary together this year.

                    Take care, Mike

You are an inspiration Jill. And GARY and ROGER are fuel injection lovers and friends of mine also. Is this car a Rochester Injection model? Will you have it at the TEXAS REGIONAL in Frisco in late October? I look forward to seeing it.

Hi James. Gary and Roger are really a wealth of knowledge and have been such a great help to me! No fuel injection, only carbureted - 270 hp 2x4 setup. I don't know if it will be finished by October. There are a lot of knick-knacky things to do on it and my car was parts poor when I bought it. Ive been placing parts orders at least every weekend ( but it seems like every other day I'm ordering something). If I can make it in October, I'll surely be there. Thanks for your kind words.

Thank you Bruce. I'm hoping to write a book on my restoration project when I'm finished with mine. I have a lot of pictures to share in my book and hopefully it will help someone out on their project.
