Question please, Sir. Why 15W-40? I've always heard 10W-30 in Tennessee. Please
recall I have no knowledge on these subjects so I'm not questioning you, I'm trying to learn.
If I ask something dumb, please forgive me. Waited all my life for this little car and want to be good to it.

15W-40 is the most commonly available C-category viscosity range and is okay for consistent cold starts down to about 15F, so that covers 99+ percent of vintage car use. SAE 30 and 10W-30 are also available in some brands, but not commonly stocked in parts stores.

I don't think oil and filters can be discussed More than it has since the corvette was built. All of us know by now to get some with some level of zdp, and a roll of toilet paper in the canister will do just fine for as often as we all change it. It hardly has time for the engine to warm up and we are changing it again for whatever reason. (Just thought a little humor was needed on this subject).

Yes, it's the same for all 1958-67. 1956-57 uses a different canister filter, though.
