Ronald,
At the bottom of the lens it says "Auto Lite" not Guide. Was AutoLite a supplier of bulbs to the Guide division?

No, I could not read that just saw the 12V in the center, lights are from different places

Ron if you go to the Michigan chapter web site http://www.michiganncrs.org/ and click on videos or the link below you will be able to see an actual '53-4 and very early '55 only steel back sealed beam. Jeff presented an excellant seminar on headlight bulbs and sealed beams.

It was usefull info but he skipped from the 12 volt steel back strait to the T3's. There is a big gap here!

You are correct that I skipped the glass 12 volt bulbs used in 1955. I had no examples to show and I neglected to even mention them. It was an oversight. If I ever have to repeat the presentation I will add them.

Ron, I just noticed that this is not a Guide headlight. It's a AutoLite so it would not originally been on a 55 Corvette. The two I posted were Guide headlights.

A couple of years ago I wrote an extensive article in the Restorer covering all the versions of the 53-55 headlight bulbs. There were 4 different 12V units. Two steelback and two all glass. (The first 12V steelback came out in 53 and was not used in Corvettes.) Then came the T-3, which included a 6V T-3 as well as the commonly seen 12V.
