Before changing this sensor double check the conector for corrosion and continuity of both wires from the ECM and he ground is good.

      Re: Cooling Temperature Sensor

I need the sensor first and the service manual has no means of support to check it out. So a new GM for my year would be a quick screw in . As far as corrosion the electrical connector looks fine but who knows what the water pump internals hold! As far as grounds the re find.

That's odd becouse my 94 FSM had the steps to check it out. I had my trouble with replacement sensor there.

I found a pre 90 sensor tester Actron CP9087 The two Z28 convertibles would just cut at any time on the highway that i owned so that is why i have this.

How are you determining you need a sensor?

What is the configuration of the connector on the sensor? Is it 2 pins or is is a blade and a pin?

                    Re: Cooling Temperature Sensor

Not looking for thermostat. On the water pump there is a two pin connector which reads coolant temperature whichin closed loop tells computer to lean or rich fuel.

Are you sure that the pins on the sender are two EQUAL-SIZED PINS? A photo of it, especially of the pins, might be helpful.

That's what I thought, too. However, the GM #25037332 temp sender has, side-by-side, a blade terminal and a pin terminal. That's not as Frank describes his. I've just hit a "brick wall" in coming up with the correct temp sender. It might be a GM #19189478 or GM #19187357.
