Here's a few pics of the 1955. has not been registered on the street since 1966.
This 55 was bought at a car lot in Memphis, TN. (Billy Mars Car Lot) on Union Avenue.

Comments please if you appreciate a real 1955 Barn Find!

          Thanks,

Do you have the NCRS Corvette Specifications Guide? Look on page 84 and listed is the 1110855 with vacuum advance.

Hope you have armed yourself with all the available information on 1955 Corvettes.

I have been told that after car 400 or so the distributor advance was made inoperable and would have been 847 not 855! This looks to be a very correct car and has the 855 Vac advance intact. It looks correct to me and not monkied with. thanks Ronnie

all 55 corvettes with a V8 have 855 distributors. passenger cars and truck have 847. usually corvettes with a 5D7 date on the distributor come after car #400, 026 engine pads about #350, and seeing that this car has a operating vacuum advance and first design carb I would expect the vin to be in the late 300s. cars after approximately #400 have a non-operating vacuum advance and second design carb. the vin # would help in verifying the cut off point between the first and second design carb and the change from a operating to non-operating vacuum advance. the type of lower radiator support is also questionable in cars after #350, so it would be interesting to see if this car has the early 2 piece support. this basicly is an almost completely original car with minor maintenance changes in hoses, clamps, and maybe a fuel and water pump. it'd be nice to see what this car would look like with a detailing!

No Monkey's on this car as of this date. Just hoses, belts and ? on the battery cables. They could be correct.???? I have known this car since the early seventies and the second owner has passed. It's now owned by his son. He's looking for the title now. Comments on the attachment of the oil filter please.

                            A few more pics here.

The oil filter is an add on, hub caps are exactly like mine, heat riser is very rare and looks correct.

I think you are confused. what member of the NCRS has ever seen 482? 482 is a harvest gold car. you did not get the original distributor with the car or you would see it would be a 855, dated 5D7, with a non-operating vacuum advance. if you can't find the non-operating vacuum advance among the parts you were given with the car, you will never get another. it is a assembly line only part.
