Now, THAT'S a car barn...and then some. Like one of your signs says "Big Block Heaven" and so much more. Truly impressive. If I'm ever down your way I would love to stop by and visit. Thanks for sharing your website.

if the frame on the top has not been repainted, a harvest gold car will have a green frame. black frame could be a copper, red or white car. nice to see an original vin tag. a lot of tags were lost and replaced with later style tags and stamped with a incorrect V. what is left in the engine compartment appears correct and with the 904 relay and the position of the voltage regulator car is a automatic. ask about the ignition shielding. a picture of the shielding might help them locate parts. also the car came with a non-operating vacuum advance. if not located now, you'll never locate another.

Hi Ron, Looks like a rare 55 Copper car. # 480 of the 700 made. Makes for a very nice restoration project. I live in BANDERA, below Kerrville. 1hr 45 minutes per Google map. The SOLID AXEL CORVETTE CLUB and NCRS have very good people to help you with this car. Many should be at SAN ANTONIO Convention July 10-13. Hope to meet you there.

                Re: Barn find

On a semi-related topic, did we determine that the "V" that was stamped on the VIN Tag was a couple of chisel / flat screwdriver marks, or an actual letter?

a month before you posted this #482 came up for sale. it was also a project car and the owner seemed to have almost every part needed for the restoration. block pad and other parts were right on. seeing you are only a car apart you should compare information.

                    Re: Barn find

Remember the old saying? "When it rains it pours"

This Barn Find is really an original 1955 that has never been found or restored.

It is owned by the second owners son.
I have been knowing about this 55 since the late 60's.
I have been introduced to the original owner.
Pictures of this 55 were used by Sam Foltz for the 53-55 judging manual.
It was sold in Tupelo, MS. by the Chevrolet Dealer there.
It's Corvette Copper with a dark beige interior.
Everything is original including to top. Sad but original.

Most of all "IT'S NOT FOR SALE" and I will have the opportunity as well as knowledgeable NCRS members to help the present owner return it to it's glory days of 1955.

Enjoy this two pics of this wonderful 1955 Corvette. I will post more pictures next week if members wish.

                          Ronnie,

Will post some pictures after seeing this 55 again this Sunday. Haven't seen it in 40 years. Will talk to the owner and if he agrees I will send you a PM with his phone number. Just remember this 55 is not for sale at any price. It was his fathers and there is an emotional attachment.
And that is the original paint on the 55. I have two gallons of paint for that 55 I bought back in the early 70's.

Ok thanks, mine is a over the paint repaint but has a very nice body and frame, ( definitely a copper car ) 1 hit left front repaired with NOS parts. There are some parts missing or sad shape but it is a good place to start. information on the 55 is not very good so we can compare notes. This one was last driven in 1970 or 71 and I am still getting original parts from the daughter so not sure where I will wind up but am excited! I do know it cost a lot to play 1955 vette!

information on 55s is excellent. buy a c.d. from Troy Pyle of 55 cars #29 and #594. use #594 as your guide, except #480 will have a washer jar and plunger instead of a washer bag and foot pedal. your car will also have a non-operating vacuum advance instead of the operating one that was replaced on #594 due to performance issues. #482 and your date codes should be almost identical.
