Gene, There are 2 at the VR to protect the alternator and VR wiring.

2 at the starter solenoid feed supplying the horn relay buss bar and the Battery Meter source terminal.

1 at the horn relay buss bar as the source for entire car electrical load.

Here is a Early 1967 harness. VR/Alt section, 2 links.

Early type with the separate Plug-Type fusible link at the horn relay buss bar. Later cars and service replacement harnesses used the black barrel type joint as shown above.

Thanks Rich, great pictures, Two fuse links at VR. I completely missed the fuse link at the horn relay as mine are dressed up close to the inner fender and the core support on my silver car. And I stand corrected also tucked up in same area is the separable fuse link on my early white car. I must be getting old, forget my head if it weren't attached.

So I can now correctly confirm a plug in fuse link for #440.

So much for letting the keyboard jockey at the FLAPS store figure out what is needed based on the incorrect data in his computer for a 50 year old car...

That's good info Gene. That old harness I have here with the same plug in Fusible Link is the original from #4136, a November '66 build. You'll read about that car in the Summer edition of the Restorer. Jim Gessner and I did a story about it. I replaced the forward harness as it was quite tired and badly corroded at the bulkhead pins. The fuse panel was fine except the panel Twinlock on the big-red-lead which I repaired.

Yes, those Group 24's are often confused. Just today I picked up a contemporary AC Delco Group 24 for a '61. It's especially nice because it has no carry handle extensions on the ends which typically have to be cut off to get the shield over them.

Rich: Thank you for your offer. I have a local corvette mechanic who will be doing the repairs as this is beyond my level of competence. I will mention your kind offer and will let you know if I need to take you up on it. Ira
