57 heater control cables??

M 57's heater control cables are too long for this car. I am thinking maybe they are from a passenger car? When you push or pull them they just move the entire cable/housing around. Unless there are supposed to be some type of housing hold down clips to keep these long cables from doing this??

Any suggestions as to what to do?

I don't recall the length of this cable, but maybe someone can measure theirs and report back. I assume you have applied some lube (cable ease) to the internal runner and let it hang for a few days. I seem to recall having the same problem with my '56, but after lubing the cable and I want to say there is a clip at the heater box that holds the housing in place so that it doesn't move and allows the cable to work properly. The EOM cables do seem a little long, but check others to see.

Each cable (hot water valve, fresh air inlet,Defroster )has a clip location to hold the cable end in place for proper operation.

Let me know if these work.
Just like your hood pull cables they need to be clamped for proper operation.

Darryl there is also a location on the back of the heater distribution box for that cable
