        Re: 1971 ls6,carb

I did a quick search on eBay, found this:

Looks like it needs rebuilding, but this is such a rare piece it might be worth looking into.

There is a carb shop in Middlesex, NJ ( Custom Rebuilt Carburetors, 732-356-4333 ), that might be helpful. They have a website.

Search Ebay for it and save your search so that Ebay will email you every time something is listed that matches your search description. Also for the air pump, check with Bill Hodel. He advertises in the Driveline. EXPENSIVE but restores them beautifully.!

            Thomas------

The carb will be VERY difficult (and expensive). The AIR pump is easy. The AIR diverter valve will be VERY difficult (and expensive).

By the way, until about 10 years ago Holley used to reproduce this carb. Below are photos of a reproduction [not for sale].

Sent you an email through NCRS. Let me know if it didn't come through.
FWIW, the eBay carb is a replacement service date. Closer to what you want, but still not there.

Finding a correctly dated example of this carb is going to be an exercise in futility. There were only two applications for this carb-----1971 Chevelle with LS-6 and 1971 Corvette with LS-6, both with manual transmission. No 1971 Chevelle LS-6 were ever made. That leaves less than 200 Corvette LS-6 with manual transmission. There were probably a small number of SERVICE examples of this carb manufactured during the 1971 model year which would also have correct dates. However, reducing the field even more, there were probably only about half of the carbs manufactured that would be date correct for any particular 1971 Corvette LS-6.

That could very well be. For an extremely low volume part like this, batch build would be expected.

And weren't two of those three early in production?

This is a correct one for an automatic, early build.
