Re: 1965 muncie and bell-housing ID
Keith------
No 1965 Corvette ever originally used the GM #3899621 bellhousing. In fact, that bellhousing was not even released until the 1967 model year.
The original bellhousing would have been a 3858403 or, possibly, 3840383In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1965 muncie and bell-housing ID
It's generally accepted that some very early 65's, like yours, may have had the ...383 bellhousing carried over from the 64 model year. The OP's car was built approx. 4 months after yours. Regardless, the one he has now is incorrect.- Top

Keith------
GM #3858403 bellhousings are easy to find and usually not too expensive.
The transmission is a 1965 model year trans. The "P1203" stamping appears to have been done with individual stamping dies. It's curious, though, that "P0302" appears on the booklet. Possibly, someone tried to duplicate that and added one character. It's also possible that the main case was replaced and someone stamped this sequence on it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1965 muncie and bell-housing ID
Keith - I just looked at a pic of my 1965 Trans date. It is stamped the same way. Do not count that out as being the original trans for that car. Do some further investigation.Attached Files- Top
