Lower Alternator Bolt Headmarks 70 sb no AC

My 70 had headers when purchased so no point of reference.

What is the finish and headmark of the pivot bolt?

What is the finish and headmark of the bolt that attaches the lower bracket to the exhaust manifold.

Were both of these bolts painted with the engine? I am thinking so as the bracket is orange. If so should they show some orange or did the bolts get changed out when the alternator was mounted?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Bill, I would say the lower bracket was orange, the adjusting upper bracket was semi gloss black, the adjusting upper bolt WB grade 5 zinc, the lower bolt I am thinking a C for the lower. head marks could be a number of different ones as always with most corvettes an sometimes the finishes depending on year.

      Bill,
I will try to look at my L46 later today. Still going somewhat slow 5 weeks after heart surgery, but always looking for excuses to go to the shop. Good exercise, right?

        Bill,
Bolt to manifold (lower) is R S C, while pivot bolt is T R. Both are grade 5 (3radial lines) and neither has any indication of orange paint. Have fun!

Bill, one other small note on the alternator adjusting bolt, its threaded end should extrude beyond the alternator ear, generally they are flush. so the thick flat washer and lock washer and bolt makes the correct bolt flush.

Thank you Edward. That is what I have for the Adjuster bolt with SBC head mark.

Actually, the JG doesn't talk about your question, Bill. It spells out Edward's answer to the question you didn't ask. Sorry that I confused things.
