    Question for Joe Lucia: PF-35L

Will be changing oil in some of my old vehicles this Summer. Most of them came with PF-25. I assume
the PF-35L is still around with better filtering ability. What is the current GM P/N for this filter?? Thanks
    in advance. Larry

      Chris: The number you gave me I believe is for the regular PF25. Anyway happen to stumble on my answer;
I think the correct number is #25013454. Please correct me if I am wrong. Larry

Re: Question for Joe Lucia: PF-35L

        Pretty sure I am correct
I used to use the 35L and they changed to the 1218 - the 1218 now has an antidrain back valve.
the 1218 is a tall filter like the 35L

          Larry------

The PF-35L is still available and the part number is GM #25013454. This is a synthetic media oil filter and is what I recommend.

The PF-1218 is the replacement for the old PF-35 (NON "L" suffix). It's a conventional media filter.

There used to be a GM filter known as the UPF-1218. This was a synthetic media filter. However, it's discontinued and replaced by the PF-35L. I like the UPF-1218 because it had the same benefit as the PF-35L PLUS it had a teflon coated gasket which makes removal much easier. I bought a "lifetime supply" before they were discontinued.

              Joe,

Any fitment/clearance issues of the PF35L for 1972 Corvette with 454?

I ask, because some of the online fitment tables does not specify this filter fits (even as an option) for my application.

              Thanks.

                I use the PF35L on my 1968, 1970, and 1985 Corvettes.

No problems with a stock exhaust. Headers sometimes get in the way of longer filters.

The even longer 2 quart PF932F will fit and drops down to almost the bottom of the oil pan. But it doesn't use synthetic media like the PF35L.

No fitment problem, at all. It will work perfectly.

Joe how does this filter compare to the Wix gold filters? I am down to about 1/2 case so I will be looking to order more.
                      Thanks

If you're talking about the Wix XP filter, it's comparable to the PF-35L.

characteristics of the PF35L?? Thanks in advance--Larry

Much greater single pass filtering ability and smaller particle size retention.
