    1963 ignition switch

Does the key come out in the off position and can the car be started without the key from the off position? Thanks in advance.

The key comes out in all positions except ACC as I recall. What number is on the switch? It should be 635.

I believe there is a description in the Owners Manual.

Harry, The owners manual states what positions the key can be removed. I don't have one here in the office. I don't think it comes out in one of the other positions.

Joe, you be correct. Went to the cold garage and got the owners manual. Key can not come out in the OFF and ACC position.

According to the 635 and key set I have in my hands presently the key can be removed in the lock and on positions.

Looked it up and low and behold a 650 is for a 63 or 64. The 635 is listed in the AIM as the ignition switch for a 63. Must have been changed as I have both and they are identical.

Where would I find the number 650 on my 1963 ignition switch?

I am now looking for an ignition lock with just one hole in its face. Any sources?

                      Thanks

Jerry, you don't need the entire lock. The piece with the hole is a bezel. It just pops off and you replace it with the correct one. A drop of silicone to hold it in place. I think any of the folks that supply keys etc have them. Try Pete Lindahl.

                          Harry,

I've contacted a Doug Vogel and he's asking "Do you want one hole at thetop or bottom". I thought the ignition lock had only one hole option??

                            Duh,

Am I missing something? We are talking about a 63 aren't we?

When I get a chance I'll post a pic of a real 63 switch and tumbler set with a hole and key.

                              Thanks Joe,

Yes it is for a 63.
