How do you determine if it is an original jack?

Re: 57 jack
Hi Darryl,
There is a very good description in the 56-57 Judging manual.
In case you do not have one I posted a picture showing one area for you to look at.
I have tried to highlight it in chalk
It shows the middle ribs that are slightly recessed.
A reproduction jack will not have this. A very easy way to pick one out.

Re: 57 jack
So I assume the repo has no stamped #? What do he repos sell for?
My car came with a box of old parts which includes a jack that looks somewhat new with a tag (swap meet) on it that says $450.00 I hope the PO did not pay that for it.- Top

Re: 57 jack
Darryl, from some of the other modifications I see you making to your '57, why worry about having an original jack? The reproductions are not for actual use and an original will cost you $900+. Why not carry a current jack for emergencies and save yourself some aggravation?
My unsolicited 2 cents worth.

Re: 57 jack
My bad, I saw your comment on getting this jack in a box of parts after I hit send on my response. Good luck with your '57. Be sure to share pictures when you are all done.
