    C-3 Brake Proportioning Valves

Does anyone know if you can use a 1978-82 valve on a 1975 car? The only difference I see is the wire connector on the top of the valve. Are there different preasure settings in the two valves? Thanks.

    Re: C-3 Brake Proportioning Valves

Contrary to their name, the pre-1978 valves have no 'proportioning' function. They are strictly a distribution manifold with an integral electrical switch that detects via a shuttle valve, unequal fluid pressure.

Some (all?) '78 and up valves do have a proportioning function in addition to the above.

There is no advantage to using a later valve on an earlier car, possibly some drawbacks.
