    Too much engine oil maybe

Using the dip stick as the guide; at what point over the fill line would be to much oil in the crank case? 1/2", 3/4", 1", etc, etc?

Jerome, I really don't think you find some one has documented the dip stick over full. as most know that most older corvettes were 5 qts. and some higher H/P engine were 6. If you over fill a crankcase it advisable to drain. If you changed your oil and added 5 qts. and it reads slightly above the full mark, not to worry, sometimes we tend to not let it drain every drop out.

I would measure the dipstick distance between ADD and FULL. This is generally 1 QT. I have run many of my cars at 1 QT over FULL to make certain I had enough oil in the pan at high RPMs...............so I would say 1 QT over FULL should not be a problem.

If more than this, I would probably drain some out, or replace the oil filter to remove some of the excess oil.

I can't recall when spin-off oil filters started but did you convert from a canister to a spin-off?

I believe the change generally occurred in 1968.............exceptions being some police and taxi engines which retained the steel canister filter for a few more years.

My original 327/350 came with the spin on filter and was built Feb 1968.
