Body build date (AO Smith) April 15
Engine assembly date April 19
Final assembly April 24

However, suffix HE is a 250hp, not 300hp. 300hp would be HF.

Erv, I am not a expert but broaching good as does the vin and suffix. Jim good catch its a HE 250 hp

Are you guys sure about the HE suffix. I do not have a 65 Judging Manual buy internet shows it as a 327 @ 300hp??????

100% sure. "HE" is a 250HP.

Erv, if you have a Corvette black book,take a look engine codes are listed. Erv I seen where the owner(s) were told what he thought the engine was, yet some will do some minor mods such as valve cover decals to appear as such.

Check which carb you have.
HE 250hp has a WCFB carb Casting # Main body 0-1465 Air horn 6-1672
and a HF 300hp has a AFB carb Casting # Main body 0-1552 Air horn 6-1518

They must have changed the hp indicated by the suffix HE in 1966 and 1967, because a '67 HE is a 300hp and they didn't offer a 250hp engine in '66. Did HE refer to the base engine whatever it was in a particular year? I like the pad, by the way.

Steve, "HE" indicates a base engine with manual trans. for years 65-68. For all years except 65, which was 250HP, it was a 300HP engine.
