C2 Exhaust Extension Tips GM 3819573

Can someone tell me how these LI Corvette extensions fit the 1963 heat shields and judge. I am aware the originals were magnetic and had a seam at 5-7 o'clock position and are a very thin gauge stainless.

I have some reproduction tips that I can't get inside the heat shield, I can't recall the gauge but will check later. I appreciate any input on these shields or a source for two nice originals.

    TIA, Tim

Tim, I have a set of LIC extensions and a set of LIC heat shields on one of the 63's. They all fit fine and look good. Was judged at the National this year with no deductions.

Just remembered, I have one NOS heat shield and the LIC shield is the same thickness.

      Tim, Harry,

Is the heat shield you're talking about the same as the bezel that goes thru the rear valance panel?

No, it's a 63 only shield. I'll see if I can dig up a picture.

This is an LIC picture, need to give them credit.

          Harry,

Thanks for the education. I'm not familiar with some of the '63 unique items.

Thanks Harry, I think the heat shields I bought were from corvette central but I will check the ID and post and I would appreciate you comparing against the LI Corvette part. If it's the same, I will just order the extension tip. Does the tip also have the seam and how thick is the stainless?

Yes it has a seam. As I recall the original was .025 thick. The LIC is .045 thick. The LIC is a bit thicker but not as thick as the old repro's that were as thick as a frying pan.

You want the one without the part number stamped on it.

                Harry,

I appreciate your help, I have one more question if you have one of the LI Corvette tips handy. What is the OD of the tip where it slides into the heat shield. I am trying to figure out if the heat shields I have are large enough.

                Thanks again, Tim
