I have learned over the past 40 years Daniel, that you are supposed to find a way to say that "gently". Unfortunately, I've found it hard to do so and eliminate the 2 week time period wasted during the explanation process. The two weeks doesn't change the answer - except perhaps at various auctions..............

My '72 did not. My solution for attaching a 1971 top: The top had long threaded bolts in the rear corners (I don't know if that's the way it was originally) anyway I removed them and used the push pins designed for convertible tops. My top had a center pin. Since my car isn't a show car, I removed the pin and attached a small triangular gasket to the plate rather than drilling and installing the rear center plate. (I couldn't find one anyway) I then drilled and installed the side bolts. I didn't bother to measure...I put the top on first and drilled the holes. I bought the hardware from either Mid America or Eckler...I did this about 15 years ago and at my age...memory can be a problem. Anyway it wasn't a problem finding all necessary hardware and weather-stripping. Good luck on your project. For what it's worth...from start to finish I ended up with just short of 3 Gs invested in the prettiest garage ornament you could have...But, I'm not sorry and I wouldn't part with it.

Good work, Daniel, for giving a straight, understandable answer. We've all had enough of political correctness and couching responses in such a way to avoid offending anyone who has grown up in today's hypersensitive environment.

My 65 original paint soft top only has no holes in the top of the deck or the threaded inserts on the side.

Michael, I bought my 1966 in 1967. It has a soft top only, but has the holes for the hardtop. I figured the seller was holding on to the hardtop and I offered to purchase it. He said he never had a hardtop for the car, and that he took delivery of the car at the factory. I suppose it could have been mistakenly drilled for a hardtop.
