Below is the text from an email I received this past Saturday from John Davin, the Michigan member who started this post. He hasn't shared anything since this email.

        Vinnie

Vin, he is terminal but still alive. He knows he is terminal and has accepted it. They are keeping him comfortable with meds, but he has instructed that no extraordinary measures be taken to keep him alive. We are monitoring him daily and will let everyone know when the moment comes. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas.

The rumors about John passing are not true. He is still with us and in fact has shown some improvement. Please keep him in your prayers.

            Re: John Hinckley

Thank you Vinnie (and John). The information on the Corvette Forum was sketchy at best. It went from tributes telling folks how much John influenced their lives, to "people will miss him", to "RIP John"!

I think this is another one of those "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated" deals.

Kurt is going to go see him today, so before we close the door on our very good friend (and my person mentor), let's see what he has to say.

Edit: And as I was typing, John posted that he's actually shown some improvement, so that's good news. Let's all keep hoping and praying.

Just received this from Werner Meier who asked me to post it.

The Corvette Forum has recently been corrupted with mis-information about John Hinckley. He is very much alive; I visited with him on Monday and spoke with his wife this morning, who confirmed there is no basis for the information being distributed.

At this point he is under Hospice Care, but is in stable condition. Linda is planning to establish a CaringBridge account for friends to leave messages on. I'll advise when this has been established and provide password information. He is in a nursing home near his home but may be transferred to another facility as early as today. He asked that we not publish an address or encourage visitors, but want to encourage use of the CaringBridge site to share any final thoughts and comments once it is established.

John is alert and mentally as sharp as ever. He is receiving excellent care, but very weak after his extended hospitalization. Linda, his wife, has assured me that she'll contact me immediately with any changes in his status so that I can share the information with the NCRS family. In the interim, please keep John and his family in your prayers.

John reported yesterday 1/27/2017 on his Caringbridge page that his health is improving. He is now able to walk with a walker and expects to be able to return home in February.

I know along with all of you that, I am are delighted by this wonderful news. We wish John continued improvement and that he knows we are all praying for him.

                          From his Caringbridge page:

"Here are John's own words - I'm happy to be able to provide this update - as a result of unknown medical issues and all of your thoughts and prayers, my health has improved dramatically since entering hospice care in December, and I will return home in February.

While inexplicable in medical terms, John's strength is gradually returning and he is now able to walk with the assistance of a walker. He has been cleared to return to his home for further recuperation. While he remains under Hospice care, our reasons for optimism continue to grow. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers."

After being affiliated with several Hospice organizations over the past 27 years it is encouraging to note that each year several hospice patients improve to the point of "graduating" from hospice and continue to improve after becoming Hospice Alumni. It is with deep wishes and prayers that John continues his journey to recovery and one day soon becomes one of the few Alumni members of Hospice, having graduated back to good health.
