    New Lifts

Has anyone had any experiences with these new Quick Jack portable lifts?

Purchased one at Carlisle, easy assembly and after some initial sequencing, works great. Good service from the company via phone too.

What model? Sequencing the lift? Are all manufactures using the same components? Thanks Frank

this is the 5000 lb model. took a few tries to get both sides to go up & down at the same time (sequencing) Can't answer your question about components...this one is very well made

You can only die once, no second chance.

I would NOT trust getting under that.

That's good to hear. I'm getting too old and grumpy for the floor jack and stand dance, so I'm in the market for a lift that gets out of the way when not in use (unlike a two post lift), provides clear access to the chassis, is quick and easy to raise/lower, and unloads the suspension to enable wheel removal for service (unlike a four post lift).

Vinnie's QuickJack and BendPak's MDS-6K (below) are on my short list. Other suggestions?

It looks very easy to rack the whole thing over from the side. Nothing tying one side to the other. Only sheet metal in picture shows a narrow stance. I'm just saying from the standpoint of my own life, not putting one's self in an avoidable situation. Just MHO.

Mark the Bendpak lift you show has to be bolted down and takes a lot of floor space
Take a look at a portable scissor lift they use 110 volt power and they have numerous safety locks.
You can park over it when not in use, most brands will go from 48 to 52 inches high
Check out Qualitylifts.com that is the brand I sell It is the same company as Challenger lifts in Louisville KY and they have National distribution

Dramatic, but I wanted to see what happens if the load is jiggled a bit to simulate bumping the car.

Thanks Mark. I didn't realize the Bendpak needed to be secured to the floor. That may not be a deal breaker if I can park over it without too much drama. But a more portable lift better fits my needs.

The only scissors type lift I saw on QualityLifts.com is the QMR6 Mid-Rise. From its photo it looks like under car access is severely restricted. So maybe this lift is best suited for work that doesn't require getting under the car?

Mark you are correct the scissor lifts have limited access to the center of the car. You can do oil changes and wheel service and chassis work
The Bendpak lift is a drive over lift but will give you center access to the car. The tire dealers like this style of lift for quick tire installation
I don't remember if the Bendpak is 110 volt or 220 volt

                            Re: New Lifts

                            Hi Frank,
Santa brought me a Quick-Jack last Christmas.
I use it constantly and find it to be very stable.
There are 2 heights at which the locking bars can be set so that the frames are supporting the load and not the hydraulic cylinders.
It's really simplified getting under the car for me. At the lower lock height I work off the floor and at the higher lock height I work off a creeper.
The height in my garage is limited, so a 2 or 4 post lift wasn't ever an option.
                            Regards,
                            Alan

I've also looked at the MaxJax as an option for a lift that can be moved out of the way when not in use.
