    1967 shock recommendations

My L79 needs new shocks. The car is a recent TF car and my question is should I buy dated NCRS correct shocks or other better performing shocks. If I do go with dated correct shocks where is the best source? If i go with something better performing what is the recommendation? Thanks in advance for your input.

I don't know about the performance of the dated shock, but be prepare to pay about a $1000.00 for them.

      John,

Buying new Delco shocks would be wise and save a lot of money. Paint them the correct color and add the stickers. You wont loose many points and since you are already top flight you can stand a few deducts.

Overall, your best bet are the current GM/Delco shocks.

        front------GM #88947653, aka Delco 530-315

        rear-------GM #88945172, aka Delco 530-4

As JR says, remove the labels, paint them with the Quanta shock gray, and add the broadcast code labels.

          Joe and Joe,

Thank you for the recommendation. Where can you get the Quanta shock gray?

If you really want the best shock for the $ which will provide a better driving experience, get a set of KYB Gas Shocks. I have a set on my 70 LT1 Convert and 69 Z28. Great product if you drive your cars. If you want the assembly line correct option, call Dan Patch and get a set of his restoration shocks. Amazing craftsmanship. I spoke to him last week about a set and he's back logged 16 weeks at that point. Cost is as mentioned above - $1000/set. Good luck!

John: I bought the Delco Shocks ($140.00) from Corvette Central and painted them with the recommended Quanta paint ($14.00) and added the appropriate decals from Paragon ($3.75). They look good on the vehicle. I looked into buying the above-referenced $1,000.00 shocks, yet, thought the latter route was more prudent. Good luck. Best, Ned

Are you performing this service for NCRS members free or do you charge? It is customary to pay for advertising in "The Restorer" and use this forum for technical advise.
