Joe is right, as usual, and you also have an FI type radiator core support with the big hole to left of radiator for FI air cleaner air intake.
Much air that should pass through your radiator is going through that hole instead. You should make up a cover to block that hole.
Do that, replace your radiator with aluminum and replace your fan clutch and you should be running cool as a cucumber.

And, while you're at it...add this little gem that was factory installed on A/C equipped cars. It will help keep incoming air going THRU the radiator instead of over it.

        Which "Joe"?

I think if he goes by what I said in post #5, he might find that he doesn't need a new fan clutch.

Leif Does the Dr rebuild air dam just snap in place and do you use one?

David, Replace the radiator. The fan does nothing at highway speed. Your radiator is shot. Get a new Dewitts Radiator and your problems should be solved.

Not to hijack but it looks like there are clips to install the air dam.
Anybody have a picture of the dam installed - never seen one ?

                Bob,
There are four clips that hold it in place. Don't recall if Doc's piece comes with them or not. They're available from Paragon or LIC or maybe even the Doc...and, yes, I absolutely have one on my A/C car.

Perfect - yes Dr. Rebuild sells the clips and says 4 or 6 were used. I didn't notice this piece on the '63 coupe factory air car judged at Lakeland last January and wondered about it - apparently it can be used on 63s but the piece only entered production '64 and up (or that's what I read anyway)..

1966 and up. Nothing used before then.

                              To David Fallon,
Just curious, did you ever resolve your overheating problem?
                              Your solution may help others.

Update on my overheating: I plan to replace the copper radiator with new aluminum one (Dewitt). But I have done nothing because of the excessive heat index around North Jersey this past week. Also I will be in Carlisle, PA this Thursday and Friday (8/25-26/2016) with my shopping list.
