Re: '62 Taillight Cones/Protectors
Ha! Correct answer.
I've used a pinch of dum-dum at two spots on the inside of each one to try to secure them....it works OK.
Loose stuff in the trunk knocking them around is to be avoided...- Top

Re: '62 Taillight Cones/Protectors
After many, many times of replacing them after one or more fell off, I decided that a more permanent solution was to (A) First make certain that all wiring connections were correct and secure, and then (B) Apply a VERY SMALL amount of clear silicone adhesive caulk to the post and slide them on. This has worked well for about 2 years now and is nearly undetectable if done neatly. Works for me.- Top

Thank you gentlemen for your suggestions. I'm going to try them both. Frank, where'd you put the dum-dum?- Top

Re: '62 Taillight Cones/Protectors
I put it on the inside of the cones (so as not to be seen) in different places...under the spot at the tail light mounting screw and then directly opposite and in other places on some cones where it looked like the stuff would get a 'bite'. The clear silicone is not a bad idea either (just didn't think of it). I tried some rubber plugs over the tail light screws to hold the cones but not enough screw exposed to make that work...- Top

Yeah, I thought that rubber plugs would be the right way to go, too . . . until I found out the same thing you did, Frank. Just not enough exposed thread to grab on to. Oh, well. Between the silicone & the dum-dum (or maybe both), hopefully Christopher's problem is solved.- Top
