Tim, Yes that's probably how they did it as the channel was probably a continuous long length that they cut for each channel. But you could only do that with the replacements if they gave more material at the ends. Mine did not.

      Thanks Rich,

I will pull a tape around the originals and the channels I bought to get a idea if there is enough material. If I use these I need to compare the bead diameter but I think they are close.

When I restored my '65 tanker back in 1973 (before NCRS and the internet), I really dug around in the world of telephone calls and self-addressed stamped envelopes to find those door glass run channels, whiskers, and rear corner pieces; finally found out through Chevrolet Purchasing that all were made by USM (United Shoe Machinery). After a couple of months, I finally found the right guy at USM, and he sent me a car set they'd been keeping as reference Engineering samples.

For those of you that may be interested, I purchased a set from Corvette Central 282097. I just installed the drivers door channel and it went in with no problem. All the pins lined up with the slotted holes and the end tip looks just like the originals where they fit into the vertical channel. I used a piece of 1/4" thick wood and put inside the channel at each pin and tap it with a hammer. It popped right in.

My big problem was on the passenger side with the darn buttons...
I used a 1/4" extension (the socket end) to seat the plugs in the channel - worked well...
