My 63 coupe do not have these. Is this part necessary. Not sure how it would connect to the inner window felt seal. A picture from someone who has this part installed would help, thanks.

Re: Window Channel Corner Reinforcements. Coupe Rear 63
Chester, here are some originals. They were used to fill the gaps in the corners.
Here are new pieces installed. They are a pain to work with.

Re: Window Channel Corner Reinforcements. Coupe Rear 63
Thanks, that explains a lot. I wondered what that bracket that is attached to the inside of the door with a hole in it was for and now I see. It's for the round stud that sticks out on the reinforcement. I guess it just snaps into that hole in the bracket. Should I decide to add the reinforcement to my channel, how is the channel removed. Does it have tabs on the channel that snap into place. Also if I decide to replace the whole channel do you know who makes a good replacement. I believe some guys purchased ones that the snap in tabs are not located correctly.- Top

Chester, I did mine about 6 years ago, and forget where I got the channels but they needed some adjusting to fit. I think others have done them more recently and may add some comments on the latest replacements.

IIRC you can buy the channels and the reinforced corners separately or as a complete unit.
IMO - Long Island has the only really acceptable reproductions. But you'll have the dickens with those 'button' clips. Many will line up to the slotted holes in your coupe's doors and some may not. You can move them or (as Long Island says in the instructions) make your door holes longer or just cut the errant clip off and live without it.- Top

Frank, I recall you had fun replacing yours.
Here are some originals.....
Note the upper tips have a unique shape to fit into the front vertical channels. I don't know if today's replacements have those features or not. The ones I did several years ago did not, as shown below. Photo taken looking up into the upper joint upside down. As you can see, they cut the stainless tips flush. They should have left a 1/4" or so extra SS beading to allow the installer to create the original type bends in the tips. The tips would then fit into the vertical channel for a more finished, typical appearance.

If you can go by the pictures of the different vendors, corvette central has the only window channel that has the correct detail showing the tips that fit into the vertical channel. part number 282097.- Top

Re: Window Channel Corner Reinforcements. Coupe Rear 63
Years ago at Carlisle I bought some long lengths of this channel and a bag of clips that are used to attach to the door top. I always thought I would never use them but after reading Frank's experience I think I will buy the corners and attach them to the this channel after I modify the ends so they extend like the pics show.
They can make the corners right in reproduction can't they....- Top

Re: Window Channel Corner Reinforcements. Coupe Rear 63
Study Rich's pics carefully...the upper, horizontal ends of the channel tubes must be bent inward to transition into the vent window vertical channel. The two tubes a the rear lower corners have to be maneuvered inside of the outer garnish and inner door panel moldings.
If you leave those tube ends exposed scratches in your side windows when rolling them up/down are inevitable...- Top

I still have the originals but they are rough, I assume the bead extension is accomplished by cutting the inner of the channel away, correct?- Top
