Can any one give me a recommendation as to where I can purchase the best fitting exhaust system. I have had trouble in the past on other corvette's. Seems like they always need to be worked on in order to get them to fit the car. And never line up as they should. I have a set of Nos mufflers so all I need is the pipes from manifold's to mufflers. Thanks

Re: Exhaust Pipes For 70 LT1
I have used exhaust from a few places over the years, including a highly recommended mfg, and had fitment issues with most. The chambered exhaust I purchased from that place was no where near close to fitting and I had to have an exhaust shop refit the whole system.
There was a guy named Jack Horner from TN who had an vette exhaust business and I met him at Carlisle years ago. I don't know if Jack is still in business or around anymore. I tried calling a couple of years ago but never got an answer, but his pipes fit like a glove and were reasonably priced. I am just sorry I didn't get a complete set for my 72 when I could.
Maybe someone here knows Jack and can elaborate on it some more? Otherwise I would check into local custom shops so you can tell them what you want and can see it up in the air.- Top

Re: Exhaust Pipes For 70 LT1
I just installed a complete welded exhaust system on a '70 small block yesterday. It was purchased from Corvette Central. Once the old system was removed, it took all of 30 minutes to do the install. No adjustment beyond simple alignment of the tips and rotating the rear section to get pipes close to rear end. Perfect fit right out of the box! Very impressed and would definitely recommend. I have absolutely no connection wit CC- just happy to see a well made/fitting part.

Re: Exhaust Pipes For 70 LT1
If I were going for judging and maximum points, I would buy a carbon steel system from Gardner's and use the NOS mufflers. The right person can skillfully mate the NOS mufflers to the Gardner pipes, and it will look so close to original it's amazing. I've seen a system like this. However, I would then remove it if I expected to drive the car post-judging.
If you're driving the car, just buy a welded aluminized set from Corvette Central. Much less expensive and also lasts a very long time.Vice-Chairman (West), Michigan Chapter NCRS

Not sure about C3 stuff, but an NOS set of N11 (Off road exhaust) for a C2 runs $1000-$1200.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
