Is it a cowl door switch or a trans kick down switch

    Ok.
Drove the 75 roadster today. First time. I pressed hard on the go pedal and don't get a big down shift, and it seems to up shift early.
Now I get it, it's a 75, and I do have the stock torque converter. But something should happen when I gas it.
So I search the interweb, and read about an adjustable modulator. That seems a dead end as stock modulators are not the adjustable sort. Then I read about the switch attached to the accelerator pedal. I thought this just opened the cowl induction door.
Page 15 of the nifty NCRS wiring diagrams show this. 2 wires tan and tan.
    I feel 3 wires, can't see them, I weigh 250.
Then I see on page 79 of the same NCRS manual the indeed there is a kick down switch.
    With 4 wires 2 tan, 2 orange.
Is this the same switch for both?
I can hear the cowl door open, when I manually manipulate the switch.
Then of course, I find that the pedal isn't traveling far enough to even make the switch because of great great new carpet, padding and insulation. I've heard of rubber hoses being slipped on the swith to increase diameter. .
    Is this switch adjustable?
Does any one have experience with this issue?

As far as I know, the switch serves both the trans kickdown and air door functions.

Turn the key on, pull the switch post or lever all the way to full travel, Start the car and drive it flooring the gas pedal. This should reset the switch.

On an automatic 73 and probably a 75 under the steering column their was an in line plug on the switch for the transmission and if not hooked up would be causing your problem. The switch should have two in line plugs one for the hood cowl door and one for the automatic trans.

          Hey Lyle,
i don't see two sets of "prongs" sticking out of the switch, just one.
its difficult to hear if the Trans solenoid is energized. I certainly hear the cowl door. Maybe hold the switch engaged and pull the wire off the Trans and listen.
even if all is well, I still don't have the pedal travel to actuate the switch .

The transmission switch is in line as the plug has both male and female plugs and fits on the switch first and the hood door plugs into the trans switch. On 4 speed cars they have one plug for the hood door. I forgot to plug in the trans switch on a frame off and that is why I know how it works.
