    Replacement oil pan, 327/300

Looking for tips & advice from those who have replaced their original (4-qt capacity) oil pan with GM replacement #360866 or one it's common repro equivalent. For example:

Must the oil pump pickup be changed?
Does the OEM dipstick/tube assy' retain measurement accuracy?
    Recommended gasket set?
Do these pans employ the post-'75 larger radius for front seal?
Does the 'side' position of the drain plug cause any concern during oil changes ... like slobbering on p/s cylinder, linkage

    Thanks in advance.

    Jeff:

Keen Parts has an EXACT reproduction of the 4 QT pan. As far as I know, it is truly "EXACT", and should fit without issue or revision. It is a bit pricey $$$$ but I feel it is worth it. Many folks use a one piece pan gasket......which will minimize leaks, but certainly won't pass judging. That choice is up to you...............but I am old school and would use the 4-pc gasket set. http://keenparts.com/pages/detail.ph...=140406&PL=131

If you suspect pan to pickup issues, use modeling clay to check the final clearance and make you feel better.

    FWIW.

EDIT: Alternate choice is a good used pan. They are available from sources in the Driveline.
