Re: 63 Ground Strap Star Washer

Similar mistakes, L Washer for tooth washer, can be found through the AIM's - so common error, stick with part number

(edit, ooops, yes '67, it says L. Washer but IIRC it is actually a toothed washer.......Yes the pic shows toothed and the part# is a External Toothed 3/8" diameterlock washer.)

But just wondering. The 448645 "SCREW" as called out in the AIM.......I know it doesn't say "SCREW ASSEMBLY", which would typically denote a screw and integrated washer, but I'm wondering if it actually is a "assembly" and the AIM is in error in it's description.

      Just thinking.....

p.s. one other tidbit....the 2981858 "Strap ASM - GROUND" is a Assembly. Could it have had a LW integrated to it?

      p.p.s. I'm reaching, i know....
Reaching pretty far.... On grounding attachments, such as the one in question here, external toothed lock washers were loose assembled under the ground strap, (to scrape the paint or other crud off of components), not as an assembly with the screw. The screw head was already making great grounding contact with the strap, a washer would have done nothing.

Re: 63 Ground Strap Star Washer

After some consultation I've come to the conclusion that the 63, 64 and 65 did not have the star washer. I tend to agree that the 67 called for a lock washer but after looking at the part it's actually a star washer. No conclusion on the 66 yet.

I do not plan to install one.
