Does NCRS have a booth at any of the Barrett Jackson events? I was introduced and joined NCRS at the Palm Beach Florida event several years ago at the NCRS booth there.

I went by several times and booth was well staffed by NCRS members. Likewise great to see Roy Sinor, Ken and several members....... Booth always had interested attendees there as was good to see....

Yes, the booth in Scottsdale was staffed by some fellow SoCal and Arizona and Texas Chapter members when I was there.

NCRS has only staffed booths in Las Vegas and Scottsdale for the past several years, the Palm Beach, Orange County and Reno events just did not have adequate traffic flow and booth facilities to make it an event that NCRS was comfortable with.

You are right. I should have said that BJ has NCRS run the VIN #'S on the Corvettes.

It seems the way we buy and sell cars has shifted over the past 20-30 years.

Back in the day, many (if not most) special interest cars were sold by the owner to the next owner. The buyer got a sense for the car's previous home, how it was treated, and a first person account of its history. The seller cared about finding a good home for the car.

Today, most special interest cars are sold by dealers or at auctions, or by dealers at auctions. In this new world, the buyer has a supermarket of cars to choose from, yet transaction costs are higher and there's often less intimate knowledge about the car. Cars suffer through the inevitable dealer make-ready process which can diminish authenticity and transparancy. The seller-buyer relationship is less personal or even absent. There's less joy about the car; more pressure around volume and profit.

Using a dealer or auction may require less effort as a buyer or seller, but I believe much is lost.

You are correct Mark, that is what has happened. I would much rather buy from a long time owner than a dealer or an auction, but having bought lots of cars over the last 20 years or so, it is really difficult to find what you want for sale by such a person. I was very fortunate to find one, the last time I bought, from a long time owner, and have bought one not long ago from a dealer where the long time owner was available to talk to, but that is rare. The problems around buying from or selling to individuals is getting worse and worse. Liability issues, title issues, etc. are things dealers and auctions handle, and that makes it more convenient and hassle free in most case.
