    1964 Ignition Switch

I have a 64 w/the ignition switch w/two holes for removal. The closer to twelve o'clock disengaged and removed the switch. When the switch was removed I couldn't locate any numbers on the barrel. I assume this is a replacement ignition switch or from a later year vette/chevy??

    James -

Yes, the presence of two holes indicates that the lock cylinder/tumbler is a Service replacement; the original only had one hole.

James, you can replace the two hole bezel with a one hole bezel. It just pops off, use a small bit of silicone when you put the one hole bezel on.

James, also check for proper function of the switch by testing that it only comes out in the 'on' and 'lock' positions. Many have worn tumblers and will also come out in the 'lock' position, which it shouldn't do. New tumblers usually fixes this, then you can PV your car in style!

OOPS, the key shouldn't come out in the 'off' position or 'acc' position.

I got mine from Pat of Pat's Locks in MD. He sold the business and it's now called PYCL. It's in Hatfield, PA.

                Harry,

I knew for the past five years or so that Pat Kraus was looking to retire and sell the business, but I wasn't aware that he had taken that step. What do you know about the new owner?

                  Harry,

I found the website for PYCL Classic Locks. It says "wholesale only". That's a real shame.

I met him at Carlisle a few years back, he seemed ok to me. I did not do any business with him.

Pete Lindahl may have the parts available.

                      Harry,

Pat had a few lock parts that he had custom-made that no one else has.
