I have a 64 w/the ignition switch w/two holes for removal. The closer to twelve o'clock disengaged and removed the switch. When the switch was removed I couldn't locate any numbers on the barrel. I assume this is a replacement ignition switch or from a later year vette/chevy??

Yes, the presence of two holes indicates that the lock cylinder/tumbler is a Service replacement; the original only had one hole.- Top

Re: 1964 Ignition Switch
James, also check for proper function of the switch by testing that it only comes out in the 'on' and 'lock' positions. Many have worn tumblers and will also come out in the 'lock' position, which it shouldn't do. New tumblers usually fixes this, then you can PV your car in style!

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!- Top

Re: 1964 Ignition Switch
OOPS, the key shouldn't come out in the 'off' position or 'acc' position.
