    66 Small Block Exhaust Clamps

The 66 and 67 TIM&JG describe and show pictures of the guillotine style clamps. The AIMs has part numbers U-Bolt=3853726 and Clamp=2385666 for the forward clamp and part numbers U-Bolt=3791371 and Clamp=3791357 for the rear/exhaust tip clamp. The TIM&JG simply states that the exhaust tip clamp is "...the same guillotine style clamp as described above".

For the manual transmission cars, these were 2 1/2" clamps.

Since there are two different part numbers in the AIMs, I assume there were two different Clamps. What was the differences?

    Thanks

    Don,

The clamp for the exhaust tips is 2.0". As you said, the clamps at the connection between the front and mid-pipes for manuals transmission '66 ad '67 is 2.5". The 2.5" clamps uses flanged nuts (still available from GM # 1359887) with no lock washer; the exhaust tip clamps uses regular nuts and a lock washer.

Thanks Gary. I should have just measure my tips!

I wasn't sure since my car had an under car baffled exhaust system when I purchased it.

I'm going to order a set of the clamps that Greg Thompson is advertising the the Driveline.

Understand on 65 and back the base engine used 2" pipes all the way back on both 3&4 speeds. As did the SB automatic tranny cars.
