    1965 hardtop side bolt retainer

I am putting my 65 together and found the new hardtop side retainers are much thicker than the originals . I have two sets of originals one set from a 63 and one set from my 65 . I dont know which ones came from the 65 ? The difference on the originals is the hole is chamfered on one set and not on the other . besides that they are the same .The originals are also magnetic stainless .
On the new set the head is almost twice as thick as the original and has the chamfer and is not magnetic . Both will work fine but I noticed when putting the hard top on the 63 ( it has the new ones) the top needs to be squeezed together to fit inside the retainers .
I dont know if this will be covered in the new 65 manual but it can be detected with the hardtop on or off . If anyone has there originals on a 65 let me know if they have a chamfer . Thanks Bill.DSC_1876.jpgDSC_1874.jpgDSC_1872.jpgDSC_1871.jpg

Only one special nut was used from 1963 to 1975 for Corvettes with hardtops. That was GM #3727928. It may be that the configuration of that part was revised over the years. The original nuts on my 1969 have no chamfer.

Not much response . Did anyone get a chance to check their hard top nuts ?

Think Joe solved the issue however here is an original 1964 one; Sorry for poor photo however you should see the chamfer on it.
Neither of those parts seem to be magnetic stainless.

I checked my 68 and 69. All have the thin head. One nut has a chamfer, although smaller than the one shown in your and Allen's picture, and the other 3 do not. All are magnetic.
